Laravel 12 / PHP 8.2
Hospital Staffing Partners is a healthcare staffing company based in Tampa, Florida. Our web platform is where the business actually runs, and we’re looking for a senior engineer to help build and maintain it. This is a hands-on Laravel role: a large, mature production application, real users, and real data that has to be right.
The role
You’ll own and extend a substantial Laravel 12 application in production. It’s a backend-heavy, full-stack role on a small team, so you’ll work across the whole request lifecycle: data modeling, business logic, background processing, and the server-rendered UI on top. You’ll ship features end to end, keep the app fast and reliable, and have real say in how it’s built.
What you’ll work on
- Feature development across the app. Designing schemas, writing the Eloquent models and services behind them, and building the Blade views that expose them. Most tickets touch the full stack.
- Data modeling and MySQL. A normalized relational schema with real constraints. You’ll design tables, tune queries and indexes, and make schema changes against a live database with confidence.
- Queues and background work. Jobs, queued work, scheduled tasks, and the occasional long-running pipeline. Keeping them idempotent and observable is part of the craft.
- Integrations. Talking to third-party APIs and keeping those integrations resilient when the other side misbehaves.
- Correctness. This data drives real financial workflows, so careful migrations, reconciliation, and defensive validation matter. A PHPUnit suite runs on every pull request, and green CI is the bar for merge.

Server-rendered and proud of it: no SPA, no GraphQL, no microservices. One well-structured, well-tested Laravel monolith doing real work. We stay close to the framework’s conventions so the codebase reads the way Laravel developers expect.
What we’re looking for
- Architectural backbone. You direct AI tools, you don’t defer to them. You spot redundant logic and bloat, refactor toward clean structure, and push back on bad feature ideas even when the code works. Strong opinions, held loosely and argued well.
- 5+ years building and running production web applications, with deep Laravel experience: Eloquent relationships, queues and jobs, events, migrations, and testing.
- Strong MySQL: schema design, indexing, query performance, and the judgment to change a live schema safely.
- Comfortable across the full stack we use: Blade, Alpine.js, and Tailwind. You don’t need to be a designer, but your UI should be clean and responsive.
- A track record integrating third-party APIs and keeping them reliable in production.
- Pragmatic testing discipline: you write the test that would have caught the bug.
- Clear written communication. We work async, so good pull requests and clear write-ups matter.
- Based in the USA.
How we work
Small team, direct access to the founders, and very little process between an idea and shipping it. Work is pull-request based with a real review bar and CI that has to pass before anything merges.
We use modern tooling, and that includes AI coding assistants. You’re welcome to use them, and plenty of us do, but they don’t change what the job is: you own what you ship. Sound design, clean data handling, and code you can stand behind are what we care about, however you get there.
The AI writes a lot of the code; your job is to make sure it’s the right code. You’ll shepherd these tools toward clean structure, catch redundant logic before it spreads, push back on bloated or half-baked feature ideas, and hold strong opinions about how the system should be built. The architectural judgment and taste are the job; the typing is the easy part.
Nice to have
- Experience with scheduling, billing, or other data-heavy business domains.
- Comfort profiling and optimizing a large existing codebase.
- Familiarity with Laravel Cloud or similar managed deploy platforms.
