Senior Software Engineer | ZacTax

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take ownership of a brand-new product category from the ground up. This is a greenfield role with real autonomy, ideal for someone who enjoys turning ideas into production-ready software and isn’t afraid to work independently.

You’ll start as the primary owner of a new product, making key technical decisions and driving implementation end to end. Once the product is established, you’ll integrate more closely with our broader suite of tools and products.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain a new greenfield product using Laravel

• Develop modern, reactive frontends using Vue, React, and/or Livewire

• Design and optimize databases using MySQL and/or PostgreSQL

• Plan and execute work independently, from concept to deployment

• Make architectural and technical decisions with minimal oversight

• Collaborate with a small team while frequently working solo

• Gradually integrate your work with existing products and systems

What We’re Looking For

• Senior-level experience with Laravel in production environments

• Strong experience with Vue, React, and/or Livewire

• Solid understanding of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL

• Experience with (and/or desire to learn) AI-assisted programming tools such as Claude Code

• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects

• Self-starter mentality with strong motivation and follow-through

• Comfortable operating in a small-team, fast-moving environment

• Ability to balance “quick and practical” with scalable, maintainable code

Nice to Have

• Experience owning or leading a product or major feature area

• Familiarity with greenfield development and early-stage products

• DevOps or deployment experience
