We’re BitterBrains, the team behind Vue School and AI-Driven Development. We create the official certifications for Vue.js and Nuxt, offer certifications for React and Angular, and run global events thousands of developers tune into every year. For over a decade, we’ve been teaching modern web development, building communities, and creating learning experiences that genuinely help developers get better at their craft.

We care about helping developers grow, pushing the ecosystem forward, and having a genuinely good time doing it. We’re a fully remote team spread across the world, working async, traveling for events, building cool things, and trying to make an impact on people’s careers.

If that energy matches yours, keep reading.

TL;DR: This role is about saving developers time and being their friendly guide in the ecosystem. You’ll research new tools, concepts, and best practices so developers don’t have to fall into endless rabbit holes, then turn what you learn into clear, bite-sized lessons, content, and conversations the community can trust. Part educator, part DevRel, part curious developer — you help devs learn faster, build better, and feel connected along the way.

We’re looking for a full-time Developer Educator + DevRel hybrid, someone who can teach, tell great stories, speak confidently on a stage, and help shape the future of how developers learn.

This isn’t just a “record courses and call it a day” type of job.

This role is for a high-energy technical storyteller who can learn complex topics fast, break them down simply, and stay in constant contact with developers. You’re naturally curious, you research new tools and techniques, build small prototypes to validate ideas, then teach what you learned through content, workshops, and community conversations.

This is a generalist role, not a single-stack specialist position.

This role favors generalist developers with:

  • Deep experience in at least one area of web development
  • Strong fundamentals across the web stack
  • The ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and teach them clearly

Your work may touch:

  • AI for developers (AI SDKs, automation, applied workflows)
  • Backend development (Node, Laravel/PHP, or Python)
  • Frontend frameworks (Vue/Nuxt or React/Next; Angular is optional)
  • Modern JavaScript and tooling

We want someone who brings energy, curiosity, and personality… someone who genuinely loves talking to developers and wants to inspire them.

Teach & create

  • Plan, create, and record high-quality courses on modern web dev + AI topics
  • Design learning paths with strong structure: outcomes, projects, exercises, and clear progression
  • Create developer-friendly assets: reference projects, starter templates, examples, cheatsheets, and guides

Research & prototype

  • Continuously research emerging tools/tech (AI workflows, frameworks, DX tooling)
  • Build small prototypes to validate ideas, then translate that into practical learning experiences
  • Turn messy/new concepts into clean mental models, demos, and step-by-step explanations

  • Run live workshops (virtual) with hands-on coding and real learning moments
  • Be active in the community (Discord/Slack/social) — answering questions, collecting feedback, connecting dots
  • Collaborate with partners and community leaders to ship content developers actually want

Events & speaking

  • Speak at conferences, represent BitterBrains publicly, and bring the vibes
  • Help shape our big online events and show up as a host, speaker, interviewer, or facilitator
  • Travel for conferences / partner moments 2-6 times per year

Collaboration & quality

  • Collaborate with external instructors and review content to keep quality high
  • Work closely with internal devs to translate real-world dev decisions into teachable stories

Must-haves

  • Native English speaker (US/UK or native-level fluency with a clear English accent)
  • Hands-on experience with modern development tooling (such as AI workflows, Laravel/PHP, Vue/Nuxt, or React/Next) and the ability to learn new technologies quickly, experiment with them, and translate that knowledge into clear, developer-friendly explanations.
  • Confident speaking to an audience (on stage and/or on camera)
  • 5+ years of real-world development experience
  • Experience teaching, creating content, writing technical material, or public speaking
  • Ability to plan and build structured courses from scratch
  • Comfortable running live workshops and interacting with developers in real-time
  • A “researcher-builder” mindset: you can investigate unfamiliar tech, prototype it, and teach it
  • Startup mindset. Comfortable with ownership and moving fast

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior DevRel / Developer Advocate experience
  • Bonus points if you include links to any public work (videos, talks, writing, repos, demos).
  • Open-source contributions

Work style

  • Async-first, remote, globally distributed
  • Work when you’re productive, with a few overlapping hours for collaboration
  • We communicate mostly through Slack and Notion.
  • You’re proactive, organized, and comfortable owning a pipeline (research → prototype → teach → iterate)

  • A chance to work on content that reaches hundreds of thousands of developers
  • Competitive salary + performance bonuses
  • Full-time remote position
  • Flexible hours and flexible paid time off
  • Paid local bank holidays
  • Annual company workcation trip
  • Budget for equipment, training, and conferences
  • Hardware for recording and screencasting
  • Opportunities to travel and speak at international events
  • A team that actually enjoys working together
  • A job where you’re literally paid to learn, teach, and create things you’re passionate about
